The Lessons Learned - Before The First Year In Business

Uncategorized Oct 08, 2020

When you first start a business there are so many different things that come into play. So many questions and so much excitement but for me. All of those things came with a huge amount of fear.

I had been a stay at mom working the odd jobs when I needed to. I never thought of myself as the women who could build and grow a brand and business all on my own.

I thought that only people with money could make money.... Yeah I know that is such a toxic relationship with money but don't worry. I have since fixed that situation.

In the year I call my "pre" Business year. I learned a lot of lessons but the big ones were:

  1.  Stay consistent with posting on your social media.
  2. Don't get upset that people play the "follow/unfollow" method.  You don't have to be like them and lower yourself to that level.
  3. Don't let other people get in your head about your business and if your capable of reaching your goals.
  4. Picking a name for your business and branding colors is way harder than it should have been.
  5. When you follow your purpose everything else will flow.

The only thing stopping you is you!

I will be honest, the first year ... I don't actually count it as my first (aka my pre business year) year in business. My business wasn't legal, I didn't focus on the things that I wanted. I didn't have a road map to success and I had no clue what to do really.

Once I learned all the things I needed to learn about the business, about myself really. My official year started! I set a date that I would make my business legal. I decided to stop being scared of my own power and my own goals in life. The growth I thought I needed in the pre business wasn't what changed me and my business. It did help set me up for success but it wasn't what truly changed my business.

I had to decide I wanted it. I had to stop allowing other people into my head and my life that didn't support me every step of the way.  My goal is that everyone who comes to me as a client, student or friend. That I can help them not make the same mistakes that I made.

You deserve everything you want and you can have anything you want.

 Always,

Steph
