When was the last time you sat down and thought about what you are scared of? For 9 out of 10 of my clients, this is the number one question that I ask. That will cause them to shut down and get defensive. People like to believe that adults shouldn't be scared of anything. That we have all out-grown all of our fears because fear is a weakness.

The truth of the matter is, that we are all scared of many things. Most adults, for instance, are scared of connecting with others. Connecting with strangers on social media or in-person is very intimidating for most of us. Yet, When you are a business owner or someone dreaming of owning a business. This a very much needed fact of daily life.

Connections are the key to success for any business. How do you overcome the fear of connecting? That is the easiest and hardest part. You simply need to jump in head first, into conversations. Take the sales, the money, the want and need out of the conversation and simply connect. Strike up a conversation based on a common factor and be friendly.

If you question if you are doing it right? The truth is that as much as many professionals would love to tell you otherwise. There is no right or wrong way to connect with someone. As long as you aren't selling the first moment someone responds to you. Then you are doing just fine. So leave the fear of connecting in the past and move forward with connecting with people. You will soon find your own flow for connecting.
